Amanda Spalding
Presenting "Recapturing Joy: Dementia and the Christmas Performer" Amanda Spalding, or “Mandy Claus,” has been bringing joy to children of all ages for 5 years, but has been preparing to be Mrs. Claus ever since she met and married her own personal Santa over 18 years ago. A native of Louisville, KY, she is a proud United States Navy Veteran. Amanda earned her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Nursing Science from Spalding University.
John Scheuch
Presenting "Visiting Children Facing Death, Grief, and Bereavement" and "Visiting Children on the Autism Spectrum" Originally from Baltimore, MD, John moved to Kansas City in 1965. He was always interested in Santa Claus, as his father, stepfather, grandfather and uncle have all enjoyed the role at various times. However, it wasn’t until he was given a suit as a Christmas gift from his folks, that he got truly “bitten by the bug”.
Shirley Wenner
Presenting "Reading Aloud to Children" After completing her MA in Special Education, Shirley taught for 40 years in the elementary/special education classroom. She continued taking graduate level classes in reading and language arts/literacy. Her formal education has been complemented with specialized training in children’s literature.
